Morgan's primary passion, love, and job resides in being a proud Mom to one super cool 9 year old named Ryder (who by the way just hit a 1.5 x body weight dead lift)! She is a Registered Nurse in the Trauma ICU. In her free time, she enjoys long rows at the gym, romantic partner chipper WODs, and sharing a good old fashioned cry while struggling endlessly with ring muscle ups!
1. Describe your athletic background.
Athletically speaking I grew up ALWAYS playing on a sports team. Between soccer, street hockey, and softball, I was always on the go. As an adult, I have tried my hand at the conventional gym, yoga, marathon running, hiking, spinning, and aerobics classes, BUT then came CrossFit - a journey that begins again every day, with every workout comes a new challenge.
2. How and when did you become familiar with CrossFit?
It was a beautiful and strikingly sunny day in the Emergency Room 6+ years ago when my coworker looked at me and said, “There is this gym by my house that I want to check out, and you are coming with me for moral support”. A couple days later we walked in, I did my first “CrossFit" workout and BOOM! As I could hardly walk the next day, I realized It was love at first air squat!
3. What advice would you have for people interested in starting CrossFit?
Just try it, what do you have to lose right!? But seriously, what’s the harm in trying one workout? One workout may turn to 2, then to 3, next thing you know you may just have found a healthy lifestyle that changes everything!
4. What inspires you to keep training and become better every day?
My son has randomly said to me, “Wow Mom, you're super strong!” If that’s not inspiration to keep training, I don’t know what is. Other than that, I can simply look around myself at the gym, and I am literally surrounded by the best of friends and strangers alike, crushing their fitness goals, giving their hearts and souls to better themselves.
